Our Company

The Saltine Candle Company was created the way the best life changing ideas are usually formed—with lots of laughter, a sprinkle of creativity, and tons of alcohol. What started as a spark of something great, quickly transformed into a wildfire of learning, experimenting and countless sleepless nights. Like most of the decisions we have made in our lives, we jumped into perfecting scented candles in literally the worst time ever—during a world wide pandemic when there were numerous problems with supply chains and people all over the world were losing their sense of smell.

But we also realized that while it may have been one of the most challenging times to start up a new business, it was the time we felt that our candles were the most needed--when everyone could use more laughter. We wanted our candles to be a reflection of us—beautiful, rich, hilarious, extremely talented—oh wait we were talking about the candles (those are great too). They are hand-crafted with only the highest quality ingredients. Made with custom blended scents and witty labels, our candles are guaranteed to brighten any setting and mood.

We look forward to bringing you along on this journey with us, and as our close friend Bilbo Baggins once said, “I’m going on an adventure!”

Our Story

Hi, we are Nicki and Caitlin, two Canadian sisters who have always shared the same dry sense of humor as well as perfect genetics. We would like to think our childhood was rather magical—we grew up in a close-knit artsy community with family and friends that really sparked our creativity and passion for entrepreneurship. Unfortunately, it took us more years than we would have liked to discover candle making—something that we both equally fell in love with, something that enabled us to combine both of our broad range of talents in the most perfect way and something that really gave us that creative outlet we were both so desperately searching for.

We spent a ridiculous amount of time and energy (candle making is much harder than it seems everyone) experimenting, researching, testing, and creating a candle that we could be proud of. We launched in 2021 and things have been lit ever since.

Our Candles

We aim to make candles that not only look beautiful and smell amazing, but that bring a buttload* of personality to any situation. Made with 100% soy wax, paraben and phthalate-free fragrance, and lead-free cotton wicks, they are candles that will make you and your loved ones feel good—in more ways than one. Vegan, cruelty-free, and environmentally friendly, our candles are hand-poured in small batches to assure attention to detail every single time.
